If you are:

  • A first time user then proceed to STEP 1.

If you are:

  • An existing user
  • Already have several MWB files (since January 2016)
  • Already updated your Assignment History when saving the MWB file

    Then proceed to STEP 2.

Step 1

  • Use the Publishers Database first to add in the publishers. Don't forget to tick the Student assignment for each of them.
  • Create your first schedule and go to select your first student. Locate them on the list.

Students Selector window

  • Double-click the Next Study cell to specify what you will want them to work on. Then it will be automatically selected when you close the window. Or, leave the next study cell blank and close the window. Then manually select the study point from the dropdown list.

When the schedule is complete and you save it, say yes to updating the assignment history.

Step 2

Run Meeting Schedule Assistant and select Enter next study points. This is found on the Students menu:

MSA Window

Step 3

You are now presented with the available student information from your assignment history data file:

Enter next study points window

It starts displaying assignments from 12 weeks prior to today's date. So, if you can't see your assignments listed, it means you need to open your MWB file in the editor and save it again. This time, say yes to updating the assignment history.

The information is initially sorted by date and then by student. But you can click on the Student heading if you would like to sort by student followed by date:

Sort columns

Note IconHover the mouse over the Last Study point and you will see the description for it at the bottom of the window.

Step 4

You now need to get your next study point history up to date. I suggest that you change it to sort by student for this. Then all of the students’ assignments will be listed together in date order. For example:

Sorted study points

(This student has already given one assignment back on 28/11/2016. They were assigned study point 44.)

As you can see, they already have another assignment scheduled for a future week (at the time of writing this article). Thus, we can see that on 13/03/2017, the next study point will be 46. Understand? So we must add this to the history.

Next study cellTo do this, click the empty next study cell.

This will display a list of study points:

Select next study point

The usefulness of this window will be apparent over the course of time. It details how many times the student has been assigned each counsel point and the most recent date. In our case, we need to select study point 46 and click OK. As you can see:

Example of selected next study point

Note IconYou can use the filter to restrict the list of study points displayed to Bible Reading, Demonstration or Talk.

Repeat this process for all your student history so that only the future ones don't have the next study point specified. When ready, click OK to update your assignment history file.

In future, when you want to input the next study points, display this window, scroll to the bottom and enter the values as required. If they are still working on the same study then just repeat the same number.

Step 5

When you are preparing a new schedule and go to select a student:

Student Selector window

As you can see it will now display the most recent next study point for you.

It also displays the description when you hover the mouse over the study points.

When ready, click OK and it will automatically select the student and set the study point:

Student name and study point automatically populated

That is it!

But what if I was assigning the same student for the bible reading instead?

Highlight invalid study points with red background

(Note: I have selected the student below for clarity)

As you can see, the next study point 40 is not suitable for a bible reading. So it is indicated with a red background.

We can sort this by double-clicking the study point and choosing a different one:

Select next study point window

Only the appropriate study points are presented for the type of assignment in question. Any study points that they are currently working on will be shown with a red background. Select one of those (or another) and click OK. Now you can continue as before.

Repeat this process for all your student history so that only the future ones don't have the next study point specified. When ready, click OK to update your assignment history file.

In future, when you want to input the next study points, display this window, scroll to the bottom and enter the values as required. If they are still working on the same study then just repeat the same number.

Note IconDon't just use the automatic features to cycle through study points. Think about the material and the student to ensure if it is suitable for them.
